The Curse of Knowledge, Habits, and Paradigms

This part of our conversation needs to consider three related issues:knowledge

  1. The Curse of Knowledge – the more you know about something, the less you are able to communicate it to someone who does not know about it.
  2. Patterns and Habits – those behaviors we perform just because “we’ve always done it that way”…  and
  3. Paradigms – the overall framework within which we operate in any specific category.

All three are both useful and dysfunctional. They help us navigate the routines in daily life. And they tend to block our ability to see anything outside our “comfort zone” shell.

“Whenever you are tempted to react in the same old way,
ask if you want to be a prisoner of the past or a pioneer
of your future.”   ~ Deepak Chopra
